Her daily routine included taking a holy dip in a nearby lake and performing her rituals. Kusuma's husband had another wife, who grew jealous of her devotion and the respect she garnered from others. In a fit of envy, the second wife killed Kusuma’s son. Overwhelmed with grief but undeterred in her faith, Kusuma continued her worship of Lord Shiva, placing her sorrows before him.Moved by her unwavering devotion, Lord Shiva appeared before her and brought her son back to life. As a boon, he manifested as the Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga at the spot where Kusuma worshipped. The name "Ghrishneshwar" derives from Kusuma’s act of devotion and is also interpreted as "Lord of Compassion."
